Ann-Marie Tully Biography 2012
Ann-Marie Tully obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2003 and is currently a researcher at the Visual Identities in Art and Design Research Centre at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Johannesburg. Ann-Marie has lectured extensively at various institutions in visual culture theory, history of art and visual art practice. Ann-Marie is also a practicing artist who has exhibited widely and is represented in local and international collections; working with intent across a diverse range of media including oil painting, embroidery, filmic modes and ceramics. As a curator her most recent undertaking was the Urban Animal exhibition at the ABSA Gallery in 2009. Ann-Marie’s is a published academic author and art writer. Her visual and written research is concerned with the anthropocentric and rhetorical representation of animals in visual culture.
